Medical Weight Management
A More Complete Approach to Weight Management.
A medically guided approach to weight management and metabolic health that looks beyond the number on the scale.
Our program brings together comprehensive medical assessment, nutrition, body composition monitoring, movement and strength, ongoing support, and prescription treatment when clinically appropriate—all built around your individual health and goals.
The Program
More Than A Prescription.
Weight management is complex. Biology, genetics, hormones, health conditions, medications, sleep, nutrition, movement and environment can all influence how our bodies regulate weight.
That’s why our approach starts with understanding the whole picture.
The MAGY Medical Weight Management Program combines medical oversight with nutrition, body composition monitoring, movement and strength, and ongoing follow-up. For appropriate candidates, prescription treatment may also form part of an individualized plan.
The goal isn’t simply to make the number on the scale smaller. It’s to support meaningful progress while protecting your nutrition, strength, muscle and long-term health along the way.
Getting Started
Start With The Whole Picture.
Before recommending a treatment plan, we start with a comprehensive health assessment.
We’ll look at factors such as:
- Your medical and family history
- Current medications and supplements
- Previous approaches to weight management
- Nutrition and eating patterns
- Physical activity and resistance training
- Sleep and lifestyle
- Weight, waist circumference and relevant measurements
- Body composition
- Relevant bloodwork and metabolic markers
- Your personal health goals and preferences
From there, your Nurse Practitioner will review the findings with you, identify any areas that warrant further attention, and discuss the treatment options that may be appropriate.
You don’t need to know what treatment you want before you arrive. That’s what the assessment is for.
Medication
A Tool, Not The Whole Plan.
For some clients, prescription medication may be one part of a medically supervised weight-management plan.
Medication can help address some of the biological factors that make weight management difficult, but it doesn’t replace good nutrition, movement, strength training or ongoing medical care.
If pharmacotherapy is appropriate for you, your Nurse Practitioner will review available treatment options—including their potential benefits, risks and limitations—as part of your individual assessment.
Medication selection and ongoing management are based on your medical history, treatment goals, response and tolerability.
And because appetite and food intake can change significantly with some treatments, we pay particular attention to adequate nutrition, protein intake and preservation of lean mass throughout the program.
Medication is a tool. The program is everything around it.
Body Composition
Because The Scale Doesn't Tell Us Everything.
Two people can weigh exactly the same and have very different body compositions.
That’s why we look beyond weight alone.
Body composition monitoring helps us follow changes in areas such as lean mass and body fat throughout the program. This gives us more meaningful information about how your body is changing and helps guide decisions around nutrition, movement and your overall treatment plan.
Preserving muscle is an important part of healthy weight management. Muscle supports strength, physical function, metabolic health and long-term wellbeing.
We use these measurements as information—not a scorecard.
Nutrition + Movement
Lose Weight. Keep What Matters.
Eating less isn’t necessarily the same as eating well.
During weight loss, adequate nutrition—particularly protein—becomes increasingly important. So does resistance training and regular movement.
Your plan will focus on helping you meet your nutritional needs, support lean mass and build habits that can continue beyond active weight loss.
Depending on your individual program and needs, additional nutrition support and structured movement or strength guidance may be incorporated.
We can also help you navigate challenges that sometimes arise during weight-management treatment, such as changes in appetite, difficulty meeting nutritional needs, hydration and fibre intake, and gastrointestinal symptoms.
This isn’t about restrictive eating or chasing a perfect diet.
It’s about giving your body what it needs while things are changing.
Monitoring + Follow-Up
Your Plan Should Change When You Do.
Weight management isn’t static, and neither is our approach.
Regular follow-up gives us an opportunity to monitor your progress, review how you’re feeling, address challenges and adjust your treatment plan when appropriate.
Depending on your individual care plan, we may monitor:
- Overall progress and wellbeing
- Nutrition and protein intake
- Strength and physical activity
- Body composition
- Relevant health and metabolic markers
- Response and tolerability to treatment, when applicable
- Progress toward your individual goals
Sometimes the plan needs adjusting. Sometimes the best decision is to stay the course.
The value is in knowing the difference.
Long-Term Health
What Happens After The Weight Loss Matters, Too.
Weight loss and weight maintenance are different parts of the same conversation.
As you progress, we begin thinking about what a sustainable long-term plan looks like for you. That may include ongoing nutrition and strength strategies, continued monitoring, behavioural and lifestyle support, and medical management where appropriate.
There isn’t one finish line that applies to everyone.
Our goal is to help you build an approach that supports not only where you want to go, but your ability to maintain meaningful progress once you get there.
The MAGY Approach
The Goal Isn't Just Less Weight. It's Better Health.
We don’t view weight as a simple reflection of discipline or willpower.
Weight regulation is influenced by a complex combination of biological, medical, behavioural and environmental factors. Understanding those factors allows us to approach treatment with more context—and considerably less judgment.
At MAGY, care is medically guided, individualized and focused on the bigger picture.
We monitor what matters. We use evidence-based tools when they’re appropriate. And we recognize that success won’t look exactly the same for everyone.
Better information. Better support. A plan built around you.

It looks different for everyone.
Long-term management may involve continued attention to nutrition, strength and movement, behavioural strategies, health monitoring and, when appropriate, ongoing medical treatment.
Rather than treating maintenance as an afterthought, we incorporate it into the conversation throughout your program.
Because weight alone doesn't tell us whether changes are coming from body fat, lean mass or a combination of both.
Monitoring body composition gives us additional information that can help guide nutrition and activity recommendations and keep muscle preservation part of the conversation.
That's exactly why ongoing monitoring matters.
We'll look at the bigger picture—including nutrition, activity, adherence to the treatment plan, health factors and, where applicable, response and tolerability to treatment—to understand what may need to change.
