Sofwave
When The Concern is Laxity.
Sofwave is a non-invasive ultrasound treatment designed to improve skin laxity, facial lines and wrinkles, and create a subtle lifting effect in appropriately selected areas.
Rather than adding volume or changing facial structure, Sofwave delivers controlled ultrasound energy within the dermis to initiate a tissue response and collagen remodelling over time.
The result is gradual—because your skin is doing the work.
Designed to improve the appearance of laxity by targeting the dermal tissue responsible for skin support.
Can create a lifting effect in areas such as the brow, beneath the chin and neck in appropriately selected clients.
Controlled thermal energy initiates a healing response within the dermis, supporting collagen remodelling over time.
The skin surface remains intact, allowing most clients to return to their usual activities with little visible recovery.
Overview
First, What Do We Mean by “Lifting”?
“Lifting” can mean very different things in aesthetic medicine.
Sofwave does not reposition deeper facial tissues in the way surgery can, nor does it add structural support in the way dermal filler can.
Instead, it works within the skin.
By delivering controlled ultrasound energy into the dermis, Sofwave creates a thermal response that initiates collagen remodelling. As that process develops, appropriately selected clients may notice firmer skin, improvement in fine lines and a subtle lifting effect.
Think better support from the skin—not a non-surgical version of a facelift.
Treatment Areas
Where Skin Support has Started to Change.
Brow
Treatment around the upper face can create a subtle lifting effect of the eyebrow in appropriately selected clients.
Lower Face
Sofwave may be incorporated into a treatment plan when skin laxity is contributing to changes in lower-face definition.
Neck
Sofwave can be used to improve laxity and fine lines through the neck.
Under the Chin
Treatment can address lax submental skin when skin quality and looseness are contributing to the appearance beneath the chin.
Face
Treatment can also be used more broadly across the face when fine lines, wrinkles and skin laxity are part of the concern.
Upper Arms
Sofwave technology may also be used to improve the appearance of skin laxity of the upper arms in appropriately selected clients.
Assessment
Not Everything that Droops Is Loose Skin.
This distinction matters.
Changes in the face and neck can come from the skin itself, but they can also reflect changes in fat, bone, muscle, deeper connective tissues and the position of facial volume over time.
Sofwave works primarily at the level of the skin. It cannot replace lost facial volume, reposition significant tissue descent or recreate the changes achievable with surgery.
That’s why we first determine how much of what you’re seeing is actually related to skin laxity.
For mild to moderate changes where the skin itself is an important part of the concern, Sofwave may make sense. When deeper structural changes are responsible, another treatment—or combination approach—may be more appropriate.
The right treatment depends on which tissue we’re actually trying to change.
How Sofwave Works
Controlled Energy. Precise Depth.
Sofwave uses proprietary SUPERB™ Synchronous Ultrasound Parallel Beam technology to deliver ultrasound energy at approximately 1.5 mm within the mid-dermis.
The energy creates controlled thermal zones within the tissue while integrated SofCool™ technology cools and monitors the skin surface.
Why does depth matter?
Different energy-based devices are designed to interact with different tissues. Sofwave’s energy is concentrated within the dermis—the layer where collagen contributes to the skin’s structural support.
The controlled thermal response initiates the body’s normal healing processes and collagen remodelling, which develops gradually in the weeks and months following treatment.
Collagen
Why Results Take Time.
Collagen provides important structural support within the skin, but its quantity, organization and quality change with age and environmental exposure.
Sofwave doesn’t simply “tighten” the skin the moment the ultrasound energy is delivered.
The controlled thermal treatment initiates a healing and remodelling response within the dermis. New collagen formation and reorganization take time, which is why the visible effect develops gradually rather than overnight.
Some clients may begin to notice changes earlier, but improvement can continue to evolve over the months following treatment.
The appointment starts the process. Your biology takes it from there.
Results
Subtle, Gradual + Your Own.
Sofwave is for clients looking for improvement—not a dramatic change in facial anatomy.
Results develop as collagen remodelling occurs following treatment. The degree of improvement varies according to baseline skin quality, degree of laxity, age, anatomy and individual biological response.
Some clients may achieve their treatment goal after one session, while others may benefit from additional treatment or maintenance over time.
We don’t promise a universal degree of lifting or apply the same treatment schedule to everyone.
The goal is skin that looks firmer and better supported—not a face that looks different.
What to Expect
Your Treatment, From Assessment to Result.
We start by looking at what is actually contributing to the change you’re seeing.
We’ll assess your skin quality, degree and distribution of laxity, facial anatomy, previous treatments and treatment goals.
From there, we’ll determine whether Sofwave makes sense—or whether another approach would better address the concern.
Ultrasound energy is delivered through the Sofwave applicator while integrated cooling helps protect the skin surface.
You’ll feel periods of warmth or heat as individual treatment pulses are delivered. Comfort varies between clients, and we’ll discuss pain-management options and what to expect before treatment.
One of the advantages of Sofwave is relatively little visible downtime.
Temporary redness, swelling, tenderness or sensitivity can occur, but the surface of the skin remains intact and most clients can return to their regular activities following treatment.
Your provider will review treatment-specific aftercare before you leave.
Sofwave isn’t a treatment we judge the following morning.
Because collagen remodelling occurs gradually, we allow adequate time for the tissue response to develop before assessing the result.
At follow-up, we can evaluate the change and determine whether any additional treatment belongs in the longer-term plan.
Who It's For
When You're Not Looking to Add Volume.
Sofwave can be particularly useful when skin laxity is becoming noticeable but adding volume isn’t the goal.
It may appeal to clients noticing early to moderate changes through the brow, face, jawline, beneath the chin or neck who want a non-invasive approach with minimal downtime.
It can also complement other treatments when different tissues are contributing to the overall concern.
But there is a limit to what an energy-based treatment can accomplish.
More significant tissue descent or excess skin may require a different approach, and we think it’s important to be clear about that before treatment.
Sofwave vs Other Skin-Tightening Technologies
Not All Energy Devices Work At the Same Depth.
“Skin tightening” describes a treatment goal—not one technology.
Ultrasound, radiofrequency and other energy-based devices differ in the type of energy they deliver, the depth at which that energy is concentrated and the tissue response they’re designed to create.
Sofwave uses ultrasound energy concentrated at approximately 1.5 mm within the mid-dermis.
That makes understanding which tissue is responsible for the concern more important than simply choosing whichever device has the strongest reputation for “lifting.”
At MAGY, technology follows the assessment.
The MAGY Approach
Think About the Skin You'll Have Later, Too.
Skin tightening isn’t only about responding once laxity becomes significant.
We think about skin quality and structural support over the longer term: what has changed, what is likely to continue changing, and which interventions make sense at each stage.
For some clients, Sofwave is used to address laxity that has already become noticeable. For others, maintaining skin quality and supporting collagen over time may form part of a broader skin strategy.
That doesn’t mean everyone needs preventative energy treatments—or that more frequent treatment is better.
It means we treat according to what your skin needs now, while keeping the longer term in mind.

Frequently Asked Questions
No.
Both use ultrasound, but for very different purposes.
Diagnostic ultrasound uses sound waves to create images of structures within the body. Sofwave uses controlled ultrasound energy therapeutically to create targeted heating within the dermis.
It can produce a subtle lifting effect in appropriately selected areas, but the word “lift” needs context.
Sofwave works within the skin and is used for indications including lifting of the eyebrow and lax submental and neck tissue. It does not surgically reposition deeper facial tissues and should not be considered equivalent to a facelift.
Sofwave delivers ultrasound energy at approximately 1.5 mm within the mid-dermis.
This controlled depth is one of the characteristics that distinguishes Sofwave from other energy-based technologies that may target different tissue levels.
Sofwave is designed to deliver its treatment energy within the dermis rather than intentionally targeting facial fat.
Its treatment goal is skin remodelling and improvement in laxity, not fat reduction.
If unwanted fat is part of the concern, we assess that separately rather than expecting a skin-tightening device to accomplish both jobs.
Sofwave creates controlled thermal zones within the dermis that initiate a healing and remodelling response involving collagen.
Because this is a biological process, the visible result develops over time rather than immediately after treatment.
Results develop gradually.
Collagen remodelling continues in the weeks and months following treatment, and individual response varies. We generally assess the result after sufficient time has passed for this process to develop rather than judging treatment immediately.
There isn't one schedule appropriate for everyone.
Sofwave is often performed as a relatively infrequent treatment, but whether additional treatment is appropriate depends on baseline laxity, treatment goals, individual response and how your skin changes over time.
Sofwave creates heat within the dermis, so treatment can be uncomfortable for some clients.
Integrated cooling protects the skin surface, and we use appropriate comfort measures according to the treatment plan. We'll discuss what the treatment feels like and available pain-management options beforehand.
Visible downtime is generally limited.
Temporary redness, swelling, tenderness or sensitivity can occur, but Sofwave does not intentionally remove or resurface the epidermis, so the skin surface remains intact.
No.
Sofwave and surgical lifting address different degrees and levels of tissue change.
For mild to moderate skin laxity, a non-invasive treatment may provide meaningful improvement. More significant skin excess or deeper tissue descent may require surgical assessment if a substantial lifting effect is the desired outcome.
Both are ultrasound-based aesthetic technologies, but they use different ultrasound delivery systems and are designed to concentrate energy at different tissue depths.
Sofwave delivers parallel ultrasound energy at approximately 1.5 mm in the mid-dermis. Other ultrasound technologies may target deeper tissue levels.
Rather than treating one as universally “better,” we consider the tissue responsible for the concern, the desired result and the characteristics of each technology.
Yes, when there is a reason to combine them.
Skin laxity may exist alongside volume change, muscle activity, pigmentation or textural concerns. Those components may require different treatments.
We build combination plans around the tissues and concerns being addressed rather than stacking procedures simply because they can be performed.
MAGY Skin and Health Clinic
Start With What's Actually Changing.
If you’re noticing looser skin, less definition or changes through the face, jawline or neck, you don’t need to decide whether Sofwave is the answer before you arrive.
We’ll assess your skin and anatomy, determine what’s contributing to the change, and decide whether Sofwave—or another approach—makes sense.
The technology comes after the assessment.
