Neuromodulators

SOFTEN THE MOVEMENT. KEEP THE EXPRESSION.

Neuromodulators are injectable treatments used to temporarily reduce targeted muscle movement—softening expression lines, creating subtle balance, and helping prevent certain lines from becoming more deeply set over time.

At MAGY, the goal isn’t to remove expression. It’s to understand how your face moves and treat selectively, so the result still looks like you.

Soften Expression Lines

Reduce the appearance of lines caused by repeated facial movement.

Create Subtle Balance

Strategic treatment can help refine facial balance, shape and symmetry.

Prevent Deeper-Set Lines

Reducing repetitive movement may help slow the progression of certain dynamic lines over time.

Minimal Downtime

Treatment is quick, with most clients returning to their regular day immediately afterward.

How Neuromodulators Work

It's All About Movement.

Every smile, squint and frown involves a coordinated pattern of facial muscle movement. Over time, those repeated movements can contribute to lines that become increasingly visible—even when your face is at rest.

Neuromodulators temporarily reduce communication between targeted nerves and muscles, decreasing the strength of selected muscle contractions.

The key word is
selected.

Thoughtful treatment doesn’t require every muscle to stop moving. By understanding how your individual muscles work together, we can soften certain movements while maintaining expression and facial balance.

Treatment Areas

More Than Forehead Lines.

Neuromodulators are best known for treating expression lines, but strategic muscle relaxation can be used throughout the face—and in selected areas of the body—for a variety of aesthetic and functional concerns.

Common treatment areas include:

Forehead Lines

Softens horizontal lines created when raising the eyebrows.

Crow's Feet

Softens expression lines that appear around the outer eyes when smiling or squinting.

Masseters

Treatment of the masseter muscles may be considered for appropriate aesthetic or functional concerns involving excessive muscle activity.

Neck + Platysmal Bands

Neuromodulators can reduce the activity of prominent platysmal bands and, in appropriately selected clients, help refine the appearance of the lower face and neck.

Subtle Changes, Gradually.

Neuromodulators don’t work instantly.

Initial changes typically begin to appear within several days, with the treatment effect continuing to develop over approximately two weeks.

Results are temporary. For many commonly treated facial areas, effects last approximately three to four months, although duration varies depending on the treatment area, amount used, individual muscle activity, metabolism and other factors.

We don’t aim for the maximum amount of treatment simply to make it last longer. The goal is to find the right balance between movement, longevity and the result you’re looking for.

Neuromodulators

Your Treatment, From Consultation To Follow-Up.

Before treating, we look at your face both at rest and in motion.

We’ll discuss your goals, medical history and previous treatments, then assess your facial anatomy, muscle movement, strength, symmetry and how different areas interact.

From there, we’ll build a treatment plan around you.

During Treatment

Treatment itself is generally quick. Small amounts of neuromodulator are administered into carefully selected muscles using a fine needle.

Most clients describe the injections as a brief pinch and require little to no downtime.

After Treatment

You can generally return to most normal activities immediately afterward. Your provider will review any specific aftercare recommendations with you before you leave.

Small areas of redness, swelling or bruising can occur around injection sites and are typically temporary.

Follow-Up

Results develop gradually, with the full effect typically visible within two weeks.

When clinically appropriate, follow-up allows us to assess your response once the treatment has taken full effect and determine whether any adjustment is warranted.

The MAGY Approach

Movement Matters.

Neuromodulator treatment isn’t simply about counting lines—or units.

We look at how your face moves as a whole. Muscle strength, anatomy, symmetry, facial proportions and the interaction between different muscle groups all influence how we plan treatment.

Sometimes that means treating less. Sometimes it means treating a different area than you expected. And sometimes it means recommending another approach altogether.

Our goal is to soften what bothers you without taking away the expressions that make your face yours.

Looking like yourself is the point.

Frequently Asked Questions

MAGY Skin and Health Clinic

Start with What You Want from Your Treatment.

Whether neuromodulators are new to you or already part of your routine, every treatment starts with an assessment.

We’ll talk about your goals, what you’ve liked—or would change—about previous treatments, and assess your facial movement and anatomy to create a plan that makes sense for you.

Frown Lines
Reduces the vertical lines that develop between the eyebrows with repeated frowning or concentration.
Brow Position
Careful treatment of the muscles surrounding the brows can subtly influence brow position and symmetry.
Bunny Lines
Reduces lines that appear along the sides of the nose with facial expression.
Gummy Smile
Can reduce excessive elevation of the upper lip when smiling in appropriately selected clients.
Lip Flip
A small amount of neuromodulator can relax the muscle surrounding the lip, allowing the upper lip to subtly evert without adding volume.
Chin
Can soften dimpling or a pebbled appearance caused by an overactive mentalis muscle.
Downturned Mouth
Strategic treatment of muscles that pull downward at the corners of the mouth can help soften a downturned appearance.
Excessive Sweating
Neuromodulators may also be used in appropriate circumstances to reduce excessive sweating by temporarily reducing stimulation of targeted sweat glands.
